Sea kayaking provides a unique platform for developing student capability in areas such as teamwork, communication, decision-making, and resilience. Unlike short, land-based activities, it allows students to engage in genuine journey-based experiences—planning, navigating, and working together in dynamic environments.
Paddle Culture maintains a fleet of stable, expedition-style sea kayaks suitable for school programs, including:
· 18 double sea kayaks (well-suited to student learning and paired teamwork)
· 4 single sea kayaks (for staff, instructors, or more experienced paddlers)
We can support schools in a flexible capacity, depending on your program structure:
- Dry hire for schools with existing qualified staff and established programs
- Instructor-supported delivery, where I assist with specific components such as on-water skills, safety frameworks, or navigation
- Program collaboration, working alongside your staff to design or enhance sea kayaking journeys aligned to curriculum and outdoor education objectives
Operating locally, we utilise a range of environments throughout the Brisbane and south east QLD region — from sheltered waterways through to more exposed coastal settings — allowing programs to be scaled appropriately to student experience levels, program objectives, and expedition outcomes.
All activities are conducted with a strong focus on safety, sound risk management practices, and educational value. Additional qualified guides and instructors are also available to support larger groups where required.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how sea kayaking could complement your current Outdoor Education offerings, whether as dry hire, a standalone experience, a Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey option, or part of a broader expedition-based program.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss possibilities further.
